St Mary's Church

Down the Columbia river from Long Beach is St Mary's church. Built in 1904, it still stands proudly overlooking the Columbia River. People still worship here, in the summer months, but during the winter, it sits alone, maybe listening to voices from the past, or to the singing of the rushing water. 

Mermaid

Every walk on the seashore results in new things. Sometimes the find might be as small as a tiny shell, or a ripple in the sand, sometimes the find is something large.. This memorable walk we found a mermaid.

Sitting in the sand, her seaweed hair rippling in the the breeze, oblivious to us, she stared out to sea waiting for her sailor to come home. I am convinced once the sun finished setting, she turned to life and dove back into the water...

On a chilly evening, when most people had left the beach to the changing tides and the gulls, I was rewarded with a spectacular sunset hiding in the changing clouds. As long as I live, I will never tire of Long Beach sunsets.
